Harlem on my Mind

Description:

The Montclair Library is proud to present “Harlem on My Mind”, created and performed by Julia Breanetta Simpson, and directed by Shaunelle Perry.  Take a seat in the lounge, and enjoy this one- woman show, featuring the music of Duke Ellington, Thomas "Fats" Waller, Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters and other musicians popular during the Harlem Renaissance. Julia Breanetta Simpson holds a BFA from Syracuse University and has appeared on tour and at regional theaters as well as in stock, dinner theater, off-off-Broadway theaters and cabaret venues. She has toured in productions of For Colored Girls; Ain't Misbehavin'; One Mo' Time, and Purlie; she originated the role of "Hennie" in the world premiere of When the Nightingale Sings. This program is offered through a contract award, "Senior Spaces", from the INFOLINK Regional Library Cooperative. One of the goals of the award is to enhance programming provided to our older adults. There is no charge for this program. The Library is handicapped accessible. For additional information on this program, please call 973-744-0500, ext.2235.
